SJB to submit no-confidence motion against Government

The main opposition Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) is to submit a no-confidence motion against the Government.

The SJB has begun to collect signatures from MPs for the no-confidence motion.

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said that the motion will be moved in Parliament if the Government fails to take steps to address the concerns of the public.

He called for the Executive Presidency to be abolished saying power should be divided between the Executive, Legislator and Judiciary.

Premadasa said that he cannot agree to an interim Government with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa remaining as President.

The SJB said that it is also prepared to impeach the President.

Sajith Premadasa also submitted a set of proposals on behalf of the SJB to address the economic crisis in Sri Lanka.

The Opposition Leader submitted the proposals to Parliament today.?(Colombo Gazette)

Airports to reopen from 21 January for commercial flights
