The Kattankudy Police was not alerted of possible attacks being carried out by Zahran Hashim in April, the Parliament Select Committee (PSC) on the Easter Sunday attacks was told today. Five people killed in Welikanda accident

Five people were killed following an accident involving a van and a tractor in Welikanda today. The Police said that among those killed were four women. The accident occurred along the Batticaloa-Polonnaruwa Road. A van heading towards Welikanda had crashed into a tractor. The Police said that five people on the tractor were killed in the accident.

Employees of Kiriella’s Ministry released

Three employees of Minister Lakshman Kiriella’s Ministry, who were arrested over defamatory propaganda, have been released on bail. They were arrested in May with 600 letters at the Colombo Central Mail Exchange defaming President Maithripala Sirisena and causing racial disharmony.
