CID records statement from Reverend Father Cyril Gamini

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) today recorded a statement from Catholic priest, Reverend Father Cyril Gamini.

He was questioned over a statement made with regards to the Director of the State Intelligence Service (SIS), Major General Suresh Sallay.

Reverend Father Cyril Gamini was questioned for approximately seven hours.

He is to appear before the CID to record further statements tomorrow.

The CID had earlier informed the Supreme Court that there is no move at the moment to arrest Reverend Father Cyril Gamini.

Reverend Father Cyril Gamini had filed a Fundamental Rights petition seeking an injunction order preventing him from being arrested.

The Catholic priest feared there was an attempt to arrest him over a complaint filed by Major General Suresh Sallay.

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has commenced an investigation into the complaint made by Major General Suresh Sallay.

The CID informed the Colombo Magistrate’s Court recently that investigations into the complaint had commenced.

Major General Suresh Sallay had filed a complaint with the CID over allegations made by Reverend Father Cyril Gamini.

Suresh Sallay had said that at an online forum on the 23rd of October 2021 on the Easter Attacks, Reverend Father Cyril Gamini Fernando alleged that Sri Lanka’s Intelligence Units had provided financial and other forms of assistance to Zaharan Hashim, the Leader of the now-proscribed National Thowheed Jamath, who also led the attacks on the 21st of April 2019.

He informed the CID that Reverend Father Cyril Gamini Fernando had described him (Suresh Sallay), who was a Brigadier at the time, to have been actively involved in nurturing Zaharan Hashim and his followers. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. Definition of freedom of speech in Sri Lanka and China: You can say anything you like, as long as we ( govt) agree with it. Otherwise you will be silenced painfully or permanently.

    • Gabriella – A person who promotes ‘westerners’ shit doesn’t smell.

You ask Julian Assange and Edward Snowden, they will tell you about freedom of speech in western countries. I can talk about western countries’ freedom of speech based on my own experience but you would not listen to me, because I am an Asian. The West played very well to train Asians that westerns know better and they can be trusted than Asians. Even the Chinese Communist Party falls into this trap. This is the out come if you train the people for generations like training monkeys to perform tricks.
