Covid infections and deaths in Sri Lanka sees slight increase

The number of people infected with the coronavirus and the number of deaths linked to the pandemic has seen a slight rise in recent days, the Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA) said.

SLMA President Dr. Padma Gunaratne said that the results of the public behaviour over the past few days will be known in another 2-3 weeks.

As a result, she said that one cannot assume that the Covid pandemic is now over.

She called on the authorities to increase the number of random PCR tests in order to detect people infected with the virus in the country.

Dr. Padma Gunaratne also said that there needs to be strict monitoring of the public.

Meanwhile, the SLMA also said that the chances of children being infected by Covid is very low.

There have been concerns raised over the reopening of schools.

However, the SLMA said that waiting to resume schools until all the children are vaccinated is not the solution. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. Sri Lanka will have Delta Plus in the near future.
If it does not allow the US to get a foothold, especially allowing the US to have monopoly market.

  2. The damage has done…

The foolish leaders have allowed Sri Lanka as a battle ground for the regional and world powers. The damage has done. Singapore leaders didn’t do this mistake. They stood with Americans, because the US and its allies had money to develop Singapore. Sri Lanka should have done the same. It should have stood with China after concluding Asia’s brutal civil war with the help of China. But foolish Sri Lankan leaders have given access to anyone and everyone to destroy the country. Wise leaders understand the value of commitment. But fools go around to beat the wise, eventually they become a laughing stock. Again it proves my conclusion that these fools’ hearts and minds are darker than their skin colour. These fools will never have a developed country.
