Parliament informed on gazette keeping troops on standby

Parliament was today informed on a gazette notice issued by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa keeping troops on standby to maintain public order.

The gazette extraordinary notice, which has been issued every month, orders the military to remain on standby to maintain public order in specific areas.

“By virtue of the powers vested in me by Section 12 of the Public Security Ordinance (Chapter 40), I, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, President, do by this order call out with effect from October 22, 2021 all the members of the Armed Forces specified in the First Schedule hereto, for the maintenance of public order in the areas specified in the Second Schedule hereto,” the gazette notice states.

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena read the Presidential order during Parliament proceeding today.

The military has been kept on standby to maintain public order in all 25 Districts in Sri Lanka, including along the adjoining territorial waters. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. If everything fails, the foolish government is planning to keep the power through military. I hope the defence forces will not support these fools. I knew this was coming after Gotabaya Rajapaksa won the election. After winning the election the Rajapaksas didn’t bother to take time to say thank you to me for supporting their election campaigns on social media. I knew these fools will not give a damn about talented Sri Lankans, but carry on their stupidity and fall again as they did in 2015. Sadly, the other political parties also full of idiots. Unfortunately, Sri Lanka has no hope. I would say to talented Sri Lankans ‘get the hell out of Sri Lanka.’

  2. If the LTTE had camouflaged their cadre as Buddhist priests, today, they would be the rulers of this country. Even Gota would be worshiping them.
