Sri Lanka seeks more employment opportunities in Kuwait

Sri Lanka has sought more employment opportunities for skilled workers in Kuwait.

The request was made at a meeting held between President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and the Prime Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, in Manhattan, New York.

Recalling the close and friendly diplomatic relations between the two countries spanning for fifty years, the two leaders noted that these relations should be further strengthened.

The President pointed out that a large number of Sri Lankans are employed in Kuwait and made a request for more employment opportunities for skilled workers.

The President explained the Covid-19 pandemic control measures and the vaccination programme being carried out in the country, and pointed out the possibility of strengthening bilateral relations with the end of the pandemic and the opening up of the world.

The President also drew the attention of the Kuwaiti Prime Minister to the investment opportunities available to Kuwait in the Colombo Port City, in solar and wind energy and oil refining sectors.

The two Heads of State also discussed the areas of food security, education, information technology and cyber security.

Foreign Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris, Principal Advisor to the President Lalith Weeratunga and Foreign Secretary Admiral Prof. Jayanath Colombage were also present. (Colombo Gazette)


  1. Breed like rabbits and sending your people to foreign countries is not a good strategy. Basically, you are relying on foreign countries. South Asia has a wrong policy under the leadership of India. South Asia has no chance to lead by relying on foreign countries. Sadly, you can not even see how China did it, because the West has been brainwashing you for generations. You had killed Gandhi and fell into the West’s trick. I do not think you can have a savior like Gandhi anymore, you have missed a great opportunity. Please note: I am well aware that you had killed Gandhi to achieve your petty desires, you would not stand with people like me. Your future is full of uncertainty and suffering, I really feel sorry for your sad future. This is the price you have chosen to pay; therefore, nobody can save you.
