Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella issued the gazette notice enforcing a maximum retail price of Rs. 3000.00 on pulse oximeters.
The gazette notice states that the importer or manufacturer must legibly print or mark in indelible ink the maximum retail price on the label of the commercial package or unit of the medical device.
The importer or manufacturer must print or mark the maximum retail price on the label of the commercial package or unit of existing stock of any pulse oximeter within a period of three months from the date of publication of the new regulations.
A person who sells or charges for a pulse oximeter must also issue a receipt clearly indicating the approved name with or without brand name, model, type, size, pack size and the price of the medical device as a separate item. (Colombo Gazette)
