Trade union member Ananda Palitha arrested

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has arrested the Chief Secretary of the Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation Ananda Palitha.

Ananda Palitha was arrested over a statement he made warning of a fuel shortage.

Large queues were seen outside petrol stations yesterday after the public feared there would be a fuel shortage. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. What is the criminal offence committed that warrants arrest ? The police are excellent at arresting anyone with a contrarian viewpoint of government policy.

The country requires a name change to: The Democratic Communist Republic of Sri Lanka. Stop criticising the Taliban and focus on the excesses of our own political scum-bags.

  2. These are Trade Union rhetoric. They want to show their manliness. See, Gammanpila, virtually gave the same message and he goes free. He said, ” Use Petrol carefully.” Nobody objected to that!
