Pamela fights for Lankan elephant

Hollywood actress Pamela Anderson has written to Philippine President Benigno Aquino III urging the Philippines government to transfer a 39-year-old Sri Lankan elephant named Mali, from the municipal zoo to a sanctuary. The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has released a letter Anderson has sent the President, News point Africa reported. Mali was donated by Sri Lanka in 1980 and is presently living at the 5.5-hectare Manila Zoo. PETA has been campaigning for Mali’s relocation.

UK undecided on CHOGM

Britain has not decided if it would attend the?Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) summit in Sri Lanka in November and at what level it will attend, the Guardian newspaper said.
