Opposition objects to impounding of passports of MPs

The opposition today raised objections to the passports of Parliamentarians being impounded by courts. Parliamentarian Dinesh Gunawardena said that all Parliamentarians are members of the international parliamentary union. He said that the rights of Parliamentarians are violated when their passports are impounded. Deputy Speaker Thilanga Sumathipala said that the matter has been brought to the notice of Speaker Karu Jayasuriya and he was looking into it. (Colombo Gazette)

Mahinda’s expensive foreign visits raised in Parliament
