Aussie bound Lankans arrested in Trinco

The navy arrested 58 people off Boulder Point in Trincomalee while they were heading to Australia today. The navy said that the people were in a multi-day trawler named ?Devmini? when it was intercepted by a fast naval patrol craft attached to the Eastern Naval Command 19 nautical miles off Boulder Point in Trincomalee. Blake to discuss LLRC action plan

US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Robert Blake, who will be in Sri Lanka next week, is to discuss the progress on the implementation of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission Action Plan. Navy arrests 146 people heading to Australia

The navy today arrested 146 people heading to Australia by boat illegally. According to the navy media unit two multi-day fishing trawlers named ?Theres Nilusha? and Mangala? were spotted heading to Australia 20 nautical miles east of Trincomalee in the early hours of today. The navy intercepted the trawlers and brought them to the Trincomalee harbour with 146 people including 132 Tamils, 10 Sinhalies and 04 Muslims on board.
