Electricity supply disrupted for over 475,000 consumers

The electricity supply was disrupted for over 475,000 consumers following strong winds overnight.

The Ministry of Power and Energy said that over 12,000 breakdowns to the electricity supply had been reported in the country.

The electricity supply was eventually restored in most areas by this afternoon.

Strong winds had uprooted trees and hoardings in some areas which fell on power lines causing the blackout in a number of areas. (Colombo Gazette)
