Coronavirus death toll in Sri Lanka reaches 1,742

The coronavirus death toll in Sri Lanka reached 1,742 today, the Ministry of Health said.

According to the Ministry of Health, another 46 deaths linked to the virus have been confirmed.

The 46 deaths had occurred between 17 May and 5 June of which 15 deaths had occurred on 4th June.

The latest victims included 23 females and 23 males.

The latest victims are residents of Weligama, Kinniya, Veyangoda, Kalutara, Hatton, Akmeemana, Gintota, Galle, Yakkalamulla, Colombo 14, Colombo 15, Agalawatta, Meerigama, Pitakotte, Rathgama, Nagoda, Hikkaduwa, Udathalawinna, Ambepussa, Batticaloa, Algama, Borella, Newara Eliya, Avissawella, Nittambuwa, Muruthalawa, akurana, Galeliya, Gelioya, Opanayaka, Vavuniya, Bambalapitiya, Gampaha, Nawuththuduwa, Passara, Pilimathalawa, Gurudeniya and Gampola.

Of them 13 had died at their residents, 31 in hospital and two on admission to hospital.

The cause of deaths were reported as COVID-19 infection associated with diseases such as Covid Pneumonia, Covid lung infection, diabetes mellitus, heart disease, hypertension, chronic kidney disease, sepsis, acute kidney injury, severe Covid pneumonia, stroke, cerebro vascular accident and complications from respiratory diseases.
