More people have been found to be infected with the coronavirus in Mount Lavinia.
Officials said 32 Covid cases were detected in the area in the 24-hour period ending at 06 am today.
Eighty-seven (87) Covid infected people were also reported from Mount Lavinia yesterday, while 17 cases were found on Monday (24).
The 32 cases detected yesterday are from among a total of 522 Covid infections reported in the Colombo District in the 24-hour period ending at 06 am today.
In the Colombo District, the highest number of Covid cases were reported from the Padukka area with 42 infections.
Thirty-nine Covid infected people were found in Boralesgamuwa, 32 each in Avissawella and Homagama, 29 each in Maharagama and Moratuwa, 27 in Hanwella, and 26 in Piliyandala.
The Gampaha District reported a total of 558 Covid cases during this period, with the highest number of cases of 53 being reported in the Kadawatha and Kelaniya areas.
Fifty-two cases were also detected in the Minuwangoda area in which the second wave of the virus broke out in October 2020.
A total of 476 Covid infections were reported from the Kalutara District, with 150 cases being detected in Panadura South, 71 in Kalutara North, and 61 in Moragahahena.
The Matara District reported 189 covid cases, with 59 from Weligama, 58 from Kotuwila, and 36 from Gandara.
A total of 133 Covid infections were detected in the Kandy District, with 58 cases from Nawalapitiya and 11 from Kandy Town.
Less than 120 cases each were reported from the remaining District in the country during this period.
Sri Lanka reported a total of 2,706 Covid cases in the 24-hour period ending at 06 am today.
Twenty-eight more deaths due to COVID-19 were reported yesterday, raising the total death toll to1,269. (Colombo Gazette)
