Local area lockdowns enforced in more areas

Local area lockdowns have been enforced in more areas in Sri Lanka, officials said today.

Accordingly, six Grama Niladhari Divisions in Trincomalee District have been placed under isolation from today.

Army Commander, General Shavendra Silva said that the Sumethagampura, Moodovi, Koviladi and Linga Nagar Grama Niladhari Divisions in the Uppaveli Police area have been isolated from this morning.

The Kavattikuda and China Bay Grama Niladhari Divisions in the China Bay police area have also been isolated from today.

Army Commander, General Shavendra Silva said that an islandwide lockdown will not be enforced in the country.

However, he said that local area lockdowns will be enforced if a number of people are found to be infected in the specific areas.

Several areas around the country were placed under isolation since Monday. (Colombo Gazette)

Three thousand cops in quarantine and 600 infected

Three thousand policemen are in quarantine while just over 600 have been infected, Police Spokesman, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ajith Rohana said today. Over 220 houses and business premises damaged in Nikaweratiya

By Vyshnavy Velrajh Over 200 houses and business premises in the Nikaweratiya area have been damaged due to the inclement weather experienced across the country last evening.
