The public have been told they must wear face masks inside their place of work.
Police Spokesman, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ajith Rohana said it is the responsibility of supervisors and administrators to ensure that employees wear face masks while at their respective institutions.
The employees should wear the face masks prior to entering their respective work places and at all times during their work hours as well, he said.
DIG Ajith Rohana said the owners of stores should also ensure that their employees and the public visiting wear face masks inside the premises at all times.
It is the responsibility of the management of all institutions to strictly adhere to the COVID-19 health guidelines, the Police Spokesman said.
He requested the managements of institutions not to allow employees or the public to stay without wearing a face mask.
DIG Ajith Rohana also called on them to monitor the temperature of all people entering a work place or store, in adherence to the health guidelines.
The Quarantine Law has been strictly enforced in the country after a spike in Covid cases was reported following the April festive season.
Sri Lanka yesterday reported its highest number of COVID-19 cases to be detected in a single day.
Nearly 1111 Covid cases were detected in the 24-hour period ending at 06am, while eight deaths were also reported during this period.
The public have been requested to wear face masks at all times, especially in public places, and to also maintain social distancing. (Colombo Gazette)
