Several areas placed under isolation

Several areas in Sri Lanka have been placed under isolation.

A number of areas in Gampaha, Kalutara, Galle and Trincomalee have been isolated from tonight.

Army Commander, General Shavendra Silva said that these areas have been placed under isolation from 8pm tonight until further notice.

The Army Commander said that the Imbulagoda and Katudampe Grama Niladhari (GN) divisions in the Rathgama Police are in Galle have been isolated.

He said the Polhena, Heeralugedara and Kaluggala Grama Niladhari (GN) divisions in the Kotadeniyawa police area have also been isolated in the Gampaha district.

Minuwagoda in the Aswennawatta GN division in Gampaha has also been isolated.

In Kalutara, the Miriswatta GN division, Pelenwatta Noth and East GN divisions have been isolated.

The Army Commander said the Pumpuhar GN division Trincomalee has also been isolated.

He further said that the Dambulla dedicated economic centre has also been isolated from 8pm today. (Colombo Gazette)

Army deploys 243 troops to Mali for peacekeeping operations

A new contingent of 243 Army personnel of the Combat Convoy Company (CCC) of the Army, set to serve in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA) left the country last evening (12), the Army media unit said today.
