The Mrs. World international body is to take action against reigning Mrs. World Caroline Jurie as a result of her behaviour at a local event on Sunday.
The Mrs. Sri Lanka 2021 National Pageant concluded on the 4th of April at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre in Colombo.
Issuing a statement, Mrs. World Inc. said it sincerely regrets the behavior of current Mrs. World title holder Mrs. Caroline Jurie at the event.
It said her actions go against the Mrs. Sri Lanka code of conduct and the predetermined regulations she is obliged to follow during her reign.
Mrs. World Inc. further said the body will review the incident at the pageant and will take steps, as demand appropriate, based on the outcome of its assessments.
The Mrs. Sri Lanka-World Director Mr. Chandimal Jayasinghe will request Mrs. Caroline Jurie to issue a personal statement apologizing for her conduct, it said.
Mrs. World Inc. assured that it does not sit in moral judgement, adding that if the delegate sent by Mrs. Sri Lanka-World to compete in the international competition is legally married, she will be accepted.
A tense situation arose at the Mrs. Sri Lanka for Mrs. World pageant after the crown was removed from the winner by Jurie.
Caroline Jurie had claimed that Pushpika De Silva, who was announced as the winner, cannot contest the event as she is divorced, and it goes against the regulations of the competition.
She thereafter, removed the crown from Pushpika and crowned the first runner-up as the winner of the Mrs. Sri Lanka for Mrs. World pageant.
Meanwhile, Pushpika De Silva issued a statement insisting that she is not divorced.
She said that she has sought legal advice for the damage caused to her image at the pageant. (Colombo Gazette)
