SLC summoned before COPE again

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has been summoned before the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) once again, tomorrow (06).

SLC was summoned before COPE on February 11, but the meeting had to be suspended due to the unpreparedness of the administration?s officials.

They were thereafter given a time period of one month, before being summoned before COPE once again.

The committee chaired by member of Parliament, Professor Charitha Herath has summoned four state institutions to appear before it in April.

Accordingly, apart from SLC, the National Livestock Development Board (NLDB) has been issued summons to appear before the committee on Wednesday (07).

The Sri Lanka Football Federation will report to COPE on the 20^th of April.

COPE will also convene on April 23 to inquire into past irregularities in the Sri Lanka National Film Corporation. (Colombo Gazette)

Strong earthquake hits Osaka in western Japan leaving three dead

A child and two elderly men were killed by a strong earthquake that struck a bustling metropolitan area in western Japan on Monday. The magnitude 6.1 quake brought down walls in Osaka and surrounding areas and raised fears of landslides, the Japanese Meteorological Agency said. More than 200 other people were injured. SLRC journalist Mahesh Nissanka and son granted bail

Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation?(SLRC) senior journalist Mahesh Nissanka, who was arrested and remanded together with his son over an alleged assault incident, have been granted bail. The Mahara Magistrate had earlier ordered that the journalist be remanded?till today. The journalist was arrested after a complaint was filed with the Police over the incident.?(Colombo Gazette)
