Ex intelligence chief linked to probe on Hambantota hotel fire

An investigation launched over what seemed to be an accidental fire during the opening of a 5-star hotel in Hambantota last week, is said to include the role played by a former intelligence chief, who is now a security consultant of the hotel. Schools, public institutions in Avissawella close after fire

Schools and public institutions in Avissawella will be closed tomorrow as a result of the fire and massive explosions at the?Salawa army camp in Kosgama. President Maithripala Sirisena had issued instructions to close the schools and public institutions. Meanwhile the Ministry of Health said that additional ambulances have been deployed to Avissawella. So far three people have been admitted to hospital following the incident. (Colombo Gazette)
