Hemantha Herath replaced in Health Ministry

Acting Deputy Director of Health Services, Dr. Hemantha Herath, who was the voice of the Health Ministry over the past several months in the Covid issue, has been replaced.

Dr. Hemantha Herath told Colombo Gazette that he was the Acting Deputy Director General of Health Services since his appointment to the position during the COVID-19 pandemic.

He said, however, a new permanent appointment was officially made today.

Director of Quarantine of the Health Ministry Dr. S. M. Arnold has been appointed as the new Deputy Director General of Health Services.

As a result, Dr. Hemantha Herath said he officially handed over his duties to Dr. Arnold today.

He further said he will return to his previous position of Director Anti- Tuberculosis Campaign of the Health Ministry. (Colombo Gazette)
