Coronavirus death toll in Sri Lanka rises to 450

The coronavirus death toll in Sri Lanka rose to 450 today, the Government Information Department said.

The Government said that five new deaths linked to the virus were confirmed today.

An 82-year-old woman from Nugegoda had died at her residence on 19th February. The cause of death has been reported as Covid pneumonia.

Three deaths related to COVID-19 were reported on 20th February, alone.

A 32-year-old woman from Dunagaha had died while receiving treatment at the Teaching Hospital Kurunegala. The cause of death has been reported as acute kidney and diabetes, with COVID-19 infection.

The second victim is a 69-year-old man from Colombo 12 who had died upon admission to the General Hospital Colombo on 20th February. The cause of death has been identified as blood poisoning and urinary tract infection, with COVID-19 infection.

The third victim is a 77-year-old male from Colombo 13 who had died at his residence on 20th February. The cause of death has been reported as Covid pneumonia, and acute kidney disease and high blood pressure.

Meanwhile, an 83-year-old female from Minuwangoda who was transferred from the District Hospital Gampaha to the Base Hospital Mulleriyawa had died on 22nd February. The cause of death has been identified as Covid pneumonia and acute kidney damage. (Colombo Gazette)
