The date to reopen schools for the year 2021 will be decided next week, the Education Ministry said today.
The Education Ministry said that the coronavirus situation in the country will be considered when deciding on the date.
Minister of Education, Professor G.L. Peiris said that the advise of the health authorities will also be sought before deciding on the date.
The Minister said this following discussions held with Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi and other officials.
He said that the end of term holidays for the year 2020 will commence on 24 December.
The Minister also said that only 5110 schools from 10,166 schools in the country operated during the final term as a result of the coronavirus. (Colombo Gazette)
