Coronavirus death toll in Sri Lanka crosses the 100 mark

The coronavirus death toll in Sri Lanka crossed the 100 mark today, the Government Information Department said.

The Government Information Department said that eight coronavirus related deaths were reported in Sri Lanka today raking the total to 107.

All eight deaths were reported in Colombo and included an inmate of the Colombo Magazine prison.

Of the eight victims, one is an 87-year-old female from Colombo 13. She died at her residence. The cause of death has been identified as a stroke and a heart attack due to the coronavirus.

The second victim is a 54-year-old female from Dematagoda, Colombo 09. She was diagnosed as being infected with the coronavirus and was transferred to the Homagama Base Hospital from the Apeksha Hospital in Maharagama. The cause of death has been identified as the coronavirus and cancer.

The third deceased is a 78-year-old female from Maradana. She died at her residence. The cause of death is a heart attack and the coronavirus.

The fourth victim is a 36-year-old male from Colombo 15. He was diagnosed with the coronavirus and was transferred to the IDH Hospital in Angoda from the Colombo General Hospital. He died while receiving treatment at the IDH Hospital.

The fifth victim is an 83-year-old male from Colombo 02. He died at his residence following a heart attack and tested positive for the coronavirus.

The sixth victim is a 58-year-old female from Maligawatta, Colombo 10. She died at her residence and the cause of death is mentioned as diabetes, a chronic kidney disease,
and a heart attack caused by the coronavirus.

The seventh victim is a 69-year-old male from Colombo 13. He died at his residence and the the cause of death is mentioned as pneumonia and a PCR test confirmed he had the coronavirus.

The eighth victim is a 70-year-old prisoner from the Colombo Magazine Prison. He died at the prison hospital. (Colombo Gazette)
