  1. What more a verdict to make the “PUBLIC SERVANTS” happy can the Court of Appeal diliver
Weeratunga and Palpita than to acquit and release them from all charges.
Mr. Lalith Weeratunga is an exemplary public servant from down south who has served the country’s Sri Lanka Administrative Service since 1977. A person of high intergrity and honesty, was never willing to be bullied by politics, but was daring in his administrative norms and made things happen, when it came to getting things done for the benefit of the “Nation” and our “Maatruboomiya”. His loyalty to the Rajapaksa regime was not politics, but to defend the aspirations and inspiration of the majority community, with due consideration and respect while providing an equal playing field for all the minority communities. I have had the opportunity of working under Mr. Lalith Weeratunge’s administartion, when he was the Secretary to President Mahinda Rajapaksa during PM Mahinda Rajapaksa’s tenure of office as the President of Sri Lanka since 2010 – 2015 when I was appointed to function as the Press and Information Officer to the President at the Presidential Secretariat – Presidential Spokesman’s Office – 2011 – 2015. His speeches and advice/guidance to all Presidentail Staff on the first working day of every new year during that tenure still echoes in my ears. How could have this man be convicted by the Colombo High Court in September 2017 and sentenced to three years imprisonment with hard labor and fines, along with Anusha Palpita. Was this indeed not political witch hunting by the so-called “Yahapalana” Government that came to power in 2015 hoodwinking the poor and humble voters with false hood and lies. Today the promise of “JUSTICE” has been seen in this incident and his high intergrity and honesty has been restored as the top most Sri Lanka Administartive Officer of our “Maatruboomiya”. May Mr. Lalith Weeratunga be blessed for many years to serve the country under the regime of the SLPP governments of PM. Mahinda Rajapaksa, President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Former Minister Basil Rajapaksa and the up and coming young politician, Hon. Namal Rajapaksa.
