Five more coronavirus related deaths have been reported in Sri Lanka today taking the total number of deaths to 53.
The Government Information Department said that the five deaths included two victims from Colombo 13, one from Colombo 14 and one each from Ratmalana and Chilaw.
An 83-year-old woman from Colombo 14 died at her residence and the cause of death was identified as the coronavirus together with diabetes and high blood pressure.
The second victim was a 68-year-old male from Chilaw. After being diagnosed as a coronavirus infected person, he was transferred from the Chilaw District Hospital to the Mulleriyawa Base Hospital where he had died.
The cause of death was said to be high blood pressure and bleeding inside the brain caused by the coronavirus.
The third victim is a 69-year-old man from Ratmalana. He died on admission to hospital following a chest pain. The cause of death was high blood pressure, diabetes and a heart attack caused by the coronavirus.
The fourth victim is a 78 year old man from in Colombo 13. He died at his residence following a heart attack. A PCR test confirmed he had the coronavirus.
The fifth victim is a 64-year-old man from Colombo 13. He had also died at his residence and the cause of death was found to be asthma and the coronavirus infection. (Colombo Gazette)
