The coronavirus death toll in Sri Lanka has risen to 44 this evening, the Health Ministry said.
The latest victims are a 40-year-old man from Colombo 11 and a 45-year-old man from Kelaniya.
The Ministry said that the man from Colombo 11 had died while being admitted to the Colombo National Hospital. The post mortem examination has revealed that the man had died due to a heart attack as a result of contracting the coronavirus.
Meanwhile, the Covid victim from Kelaniya is reported to have been under medical care at the Hambantota hospital since being detected with the virus on the 1st November. The cause of death has been identified as a heart attack suffered as a result of COVID-19.
Earlier today, an 80-year-old man from Panadura was reported as the 42nd Covid-related death in Sri Lanka.
A total of 31 coronavirus-related deaths have been reported in Sri Lanka since the latest outbreak was reported from Minuwangoda on the 4th of October 2020. (Colombo Gazette)
