MR ready for talks with TNA

President Mahinda Rajapaksa says he is ready to hold talks with the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) on a political solution, but first they must join the Parliament Select Committee?(PSC) on the National issue. Four soldiers among 5 injured

Four soldiers were among five people injured following an accident in Vavuniya today. An army truck and a tipper-truck?crashed?into each other along the A-9 road injuring five people. Both vehicles crashed head-on near the 164th mile post injuring the passengers in both vehicles. The driver of the tipper-truck and four soldiers who were in the army truck sustained injuries and were admitted to the Vavuniya hospital for treatment. An investigation into the accident is underway.

Man arrested over multiple abuse

A man has been arrested in Inginiyagala over multiple child abuse related incidents, the police media unit said today. The police said that the man had pretended to be mentally unstable and had physically abused young girls over a period of time. He had in 2010 sexually abused a 14 year old school girl and on Saturday he had sexually abused a 16 year old girl, the police said. The suspect had also sexually abused two other young girls, both sisters, and on another occasion he had physically abus
