Travel restrictions have been imposed in the Gurunagar and Passaiyoor areas in Jaffna over coronavirus fears.
Secretary to the Public Health Inspectors Association M. Balasuriya told Colombo Gazette that travel restrictions were imposed after 2 residents from the two adjoining areas had tested positive for COVID-19.
The patients, who are a fish vendor and his assistant, are reported to have purchased supplies from the Peliyagoda fish market, where a new Covid cluster was detected recently.
Balasuriya said as the two men had sold fish to both Gurunagar and Passaiyoor, travel restrictions were imposed in the two areas as a precautionary measure.
Health authorities have commenced contact tracing to identify those who had come into direct contact with the two patients, he added. (Colombo Gazette)
