A quarantine curfew has been declared in the entire Gampaha District, the Army said.
The quarantine curfew will be enforced from 10pm today (Wednesday) till 5am on Monday.
The curfew has been declared after a number of coronavirus patients were detected in the area.
Officials said that the curfew has been declared on the advise of the Health Ministry.
Police spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said that the curfew which is in force in 19 Police divisions in the Gampaha District will now be extended to the entire district from tonight.
DIG Ajith Rohana said that the quarantine curfew will be strictly enforced and anyone violating it will be arrested.
He said that during the curfew anyone, other than coronavirus patients, can travel to hospital in an emergency and anyone travelling to the airport can use their air tickets while journalists can use their media identification cards.
DIG Ajith Rohana also said that vehicles can travel through Gampaha but no one can get down. (Colombo Gazette)
