Two villages in Mannar isolated to prevent spread of virus

Two villages in Mannar have been isolated to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

The Police said that Pallithottam and Periyakadai have been closed off with immediate effect.

No one can enter, leave or travel through the two villages until further notice.

Police spokesman, DIG Ajith Rohana said that the two villages have been isolated following the detection of a coronavirus patient at the Mannar Bishop’s house.

A construction worker at the Bishop’s house had tested positive for the coronavirus on Friday.

The Police also said that anyone sitting for the Advanced Level examinations from the two villages tomorrow (Monday) will be allowed to travel to their respective examination centers with the assistance of the Police and military. (Colombo Gazette)
