The Minuwangoda coronavirus cluster has crossed the 1000 mark as of this afternoon.
Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said that another 190 individuals tested positive for the coronavirus this afternoon.
As a result 1,022 employees linked to the Minuwangoda coronavirus cluster have tested positive for the virus so far.
Meanwhile, the Police have requested employees of the apparel factory in Minuwangoda residing or in hostels in Gampaha to report to 14 allocated locations on or before 04.00 p.m. today.
Shribhodi Playground Gampaha, Ganemulla Police Station, Yakahatuwa Junction in Minuwangoda, Police playground Veyangoda, Atthanagalla Pradeshiya Secretariat in Nittambuwa, Pallewala Post Office, Meerigama bus depot, Weerahula Police Station, Miriswatta Pradeshiya Sabha in Yakkala, Nelligahamulla Police Station in Malwathuhiripitiya, Weliweriya Police Station, Weke Pradeshiya Secretariat in Kirindiwala, Dompe Police Station, and the Pelpita Junior School in Poogoda have been allocated for this purpose.
The Police further requested employees of the factory residing or living in hostels outside Gampaha to provide their information to the nearest Police Station.
Employees living in the Wattala, Kandana, Ja-Ela, Biyagama, Kiribathgoda, Sapugaskanda, Peliyagoda, Kelaniya, Kadawatha, Meegahawatte, Ragama and Mahabage areas have been requested to report to 12 allocated places by 06.00 p.m. today.
Chappel Lane car park in Wattala, Kandana, Ja-Ela, Biyagama, Kiribathgoda, and sapugaskanda Police Stations, Dharmadasa playground in Peliyagoda, car park behind the Kelaniya Police Station, bare land near the Kadawatha Highway, Farmers Services Centre near the Udupita Junction in Meegahawatte, Basilika playground in Ragama, and the Wattala Pradeshiya Secretariat have been allocated for this purpose.
All those who arrive at the allocated locations will be placed in quarantine, while legal action will be taken under the Quarantine Act against those refusing to comply, the Police added. (Colombo Gazette)
