Pujith and Hemasiri further remanded

Inspector General of Police Pujith Jayasundara and former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando were today ordered to be remanded over the Easter Sunday attacks. The Colombo Additional Magistrate ordered that Jayasundara and Fernando be remanded till 17 December.

Court issues order against Swiss Embassy employee

A court order has been issued preventing the Swiss Embassy employee involved in an alleged kidnapping incident, from leaving the country till 9 December. In addition, the Colombo Magistrate court today (3) also ordered that the Swiss Embassy employees, who is a Sri Lankan national, also provide a statement to the authorities regarding the incident by 9 December. Minister seeks report on suspicious Chinese power deal

Power and Energy Minister Mahinda Amaraweera has sought a report on a suspicious electricity deal involving China. The Minister has instructed his secretary to submit a report on a tender offered to a Chinese consortium to construct the 300MW Kerawalapitiya LNG power plant. The tender had been offered to GCL China WindForce and RenewGen despite a lower bid being offered by another company.
