Returnees from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE and India contract virus

Returnees from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, and India have contracted the coronavirus, the Government said today.

The Government said that 20 people had tested positive for the coronavirus today.

Of them, nine were returnees from Saudi Arabia and seven from Qatar, the UAE, and India.

The remaining four persons are those who had associated with infected patients from the Kandakadu treatment and rehabilitation center.?

Among them, one person has been reported from Pelmadulla and the other three are residents of Kiriwaththuduwa.

A total of 560 persons are reported to have been infected with the coronavirus at the Kandakadu Rehabilitation Centre.

Of them 451 are inmates, 63 are staff members, 5 are visiting staff members, and 41 are those who had associated with the infected patients from the centre.

The Government said 1070 PCR or COVID-19 tests were conducted yesterday (19) alone.

Nearly 137, 407 PCR tests have been conducted so far in Sri Lanka, it added. (Colombo Gazette)
