Police impose curfew in more areas in Kurunegala

The Police imposed curfew in more areas in the Kurunegala District today as tensions rose between communities in the area. The Police said that curfew has been imposed in the Rasnayakapura and Kobeigane areas in Kurunegala with immediate effect. The curfew has been imposed till 4am tomorrow. Earlier, a Police curfew had been re-imposed in the Kuliyapitiya, Bingiriya, Dummalasuriya and Hettipola areas with immediate effect till 4am tomorrow.

A Police curfew has been re-imposed in the Kuliyapitiya, Bingiriya, Dummalasuriya and Hettipola areas with immediate effect till 4am tomorrow. The curfew in the area was imposed late last night till 4am today. However as tensions prevailed in the area the curfew has been re-imposed. A tense situation arose after some Muslim owned shops had been attacked by a mob earlier last evening.
