Three deaths reported due to adverse weather

Three deaths were reported today due to inclement weather experienced across the country, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) said.

Deputy Director of the DMC Pradeep Kodipili said two people had died after their fishing boat had capsized in the seas off Maggona, Beruwala in the Kalutara district due to rough seas.

Another individual had died after a tree-house had collapsed onto him in the Kahatagasdigiliya area in Anuradhapura.

Kodipili further said the landslide warning issued to 10 districts by the National Building Research Organization (NBRO) will be in effect until further notice.

The NBRO issued landslide warnings to the Galle, Kegalle, Kurunegala, Nuwara-eliya, Ratnapura, Colombo, Matara, Matale, Kandy and Kalutara Districts. (Colombo Gazette)

Tense situation in North after man dies in Police shooting

A tense situation has been reported in Vadamarachchi East after a young man was killed in a Police shooting incident. The Police opened fire on a vehicle which allegedly failed to stop at a Police check point. The 24 year old driver of the vehicle was killed in the gunfire.
