Twenty-one patients confirmed with COVID-19 today

Twenty-one patients have been confirmed today (Sunday) as contracting the COVID-19 virus in Sri Lanka.

Ninteen (19) Navy personnel are among the patients reported today.

Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said the remaining 2 patients were returnees from Britain who were undergoing quarantine.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Sri Lanka stands at 981, with 434 active cases.

The Ministry of Health said 209 persons are under observation at various hospitals on suspicion of having contracted the virus.

Meanwhile, 538 patients have recovered and have been discharged from hospital.

The Ministry of Health added that nine deaths due to COVID-19 have been reported so far in Sri Lanka. (Colombo Gazette)
