Over 56,000 arrested and 15,490 vehicles seized

Over 56,000 people have been arrested and 15,490 vehicles seized for violating the curfew since March, the Police said today.

The Police media unit said that during the 24 hours ending at 6am today (Sunday) 620 people were arrested and 274 vehicles were seized.

According to the Police, since 20 March 56,326 people were arrested for violating the curfew enforced around the country to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

The Police said that 15,490 vehicles were also seized during this period.

Meanwhile, the Police said that legal action has been filed against 13,556 individuals for violating the curfew. (Colombo Gazette)
