All areas isolated owing to COVID-19 reopened

Bandaranayake Mawatha in Colombo -12 and Suduwella in Ja-Ela which were declared as isolation areas due to the COVID-19 outbreak were reopened today.

Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said with the reopening of these two areas, all isolated areas have been reopened in the country.

Earlier, Bandaranayake Mawatha in Colombo, Suduwella in Ja-Ela, Atalugama in Bandaragama, Akurana in Kandy, and Beruwala and Pinnala in Kalutara were declared as isolation areas due to the detection of COVID-19 patients.

However, restrictions were eased in the Kandy, Bandaragama and Kalutara areas following the area residents completing the mandatory quarantine period and non-detection of further patients.?

Army Commanded Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said all restrictions imposed in the areas have been lifted, enabling day-to- day activities to resume and return to normalcy. (Colombo Gazette)
