Twenty- six more navy personnel have been infected with COVID-19, Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said.
He said all 26 cases of COVID-19 reported yesterday were officers from the Navy Camp in Welisara.
Another fifty nine (59) naval personnel infected with coronavirus have completely recovered and were discharged from the hospitals today, after testing negative to COVID-19.
Among the infected officers, 44 were admitted to the Naval General Hospital, 05 at the Homagama hospital, 03 each at the Mulleriyawa and IDH Hospitals, 02 persons at the Welikanda hospital and another 02 naval persons at the Iranavila hospital.
The Navy said accordingly, including these 59 officers, 121 naval personnel have been discharged from hospitals so far after testing negative to COVID-19.
Meanwhile, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Sri Lanka stands at 915 as of this morning, with 524 active cases.
Close to 105 individuals are under observation at various hospitals on suspicion of having contracted the virus.
The Ministry of Health said 382 patients, including a Chinese woman, have recovered so far and have been discharged from hospital.
The Ministry added that nine deaths due to COVID-19 have been reported so far in Sri Lanka. (Colombo Gazette)
