Seventeen more Navy personnel infected with COVID-19 were detected in Sri Lanka yesterday.
Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said the latest detections were among the 20 COVID-19 cases reported yesterday.
Two among the patients were identified as relatives of Navy officers, while the remaining one person was a returnee from Dubai, he said.
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases reported in Sri Lanka stands at 889 as of this morning, with 514 identified as active cases.
The Ministry of Health said 117 persons are under observation at various hospitals on suspicion of having contracted the virus.
Meanwhile, 366 patients who were infected with the coronavirus have completely recovered so far and have been discharged from hospital.
