Development projects in Colombo to be expedited

Development projects in Colombo are to be expedited following instructions issued by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

A meeting in this regard headed by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa was held at the Presidential Secretariat today.

Officials from the Urban Development Authority and Secretaries and heads of the relevant Ministries and departments attended the meeting.

The President advised the officials to look at investors as opposed to seeking loans to carry out the development projects.

He also noted the importance of ensuring all projects fall in line with local policies.

The President also instructed the relevant officials to commence the development projects of the Colombo Port West and East terminals. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. No more development projects please. Colombo has valuable historical buildings that will be forever lost due to development projects. I am still appalled that the old army headquarters were demolished for some ugly hotels built by low-class Chinese idiots with no knowledge of Sri Lanka’s history and Colombo’s beauty. Sri Lankans must preserve their unique country and beautiful city while they still can. Please tell all the investors that Sri Lanka and Sri Lankans are NOT FOR SALE.

  2. Value for money spent and accountability is most important and non-tolerance to false deal makers and fraudsters. At the end of the day, the benefits must far outweigh the costs and accrue to all.
