Transport Ministry advised not to deploy public transport for two weeks

The Transport Ministry has been advised not to deploy public transport for normal public use for another two weeks, the Government said.

The Government information department said that the advise was issued by the Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe.

The Transport Ministry had sought the advice of the Director General of Health Services on the deployment of public transport from tomorrow 11 May.

However, Dr. Anil Jasinghe had noted that the public may attempt to use public transport for non-essential work and as a result he has advised the authorities not to deploy public transport for another two weeks.

He has advised that public transport be used only for essential services.

While the curfew is in force in the districts of Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara and Puttalam, the resumption of civilian life and state and private sector activities will begin from tomorrow, Monday. (Colombo Gazette)
