More Navy officers infected

Fifteen Navy personnel were reported among the COVID-19 infected patients detected in Sri Lanka yesterday.

Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said 20 patients infected with COVID-19 were reported yesterday.

The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Sri Lanka stands at 771 as of this morning.

The Ministry of Health said 549 patients are reported as active cases.

Close to 145 persons are admitted to various hospitals on suspicion of having contracted the virus.

Meanwhile, 213 patients, including one Chinese woman, have recovered so far and have been discharged from hospital.

The Ministry of Health said the number of deaths due to COVID-19 in Sri Lanka increased to 9, following the death of a 52 year- old woman from Modara last evening. (Colombo Gazette)
