Over 130 residents from multiple locations quarantined

Over 130 residents from multiple locations were taken to quarantine centers today, Army Commander, Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said.

He said that 138 people were quarantined, and this included residents of Rajagiriya and Kollonawa.

Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said that overall there are over 4000 people in quarantine centers operated by the Army.

Meanwhile, a second Navy officer has recovered from the coronavirus and was discharged from the Mulleriyawa hospital today.

The Navy said the officer was identified to have had close contact with another Navy officer who was detected with COVID-19 in Polonnaruwa on 23 April.

The officer was thereafter directed to the Mulleriyawa hospital for treatment and while under treatment 3 PCR tests had been conducted.

He was discharged from the hospital today, after the test reports revealed he tested negative to COVID-19.

The Navy said the officer will be kept under quarantine for another 14 days based on healthcare instructions.

Two naval personnel who were infected with the coronavirus have so far been discharged from hospital after complete recovery. (Colombo Gazette)
