Navy officer recovers from coronavirus

A Navy officer today became the first Navy sailor to recover from the coronavirus.

The Navy said the officer was admitted to the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH) in Angoda after testing positive for COVID-19.?

This Navy officer, who was on leave from 22nd April, tested positive to the coronavirus after a PCR test was conducted at the Ratnapura hospital on 25th April.?

Later, on the same day, he was directed to the IDH hospital for treatment, and while under treatment 3 PCR tests had been conducted on him.?

Since, all test results confirmed that the patient was negative for coronavirus, he was discharged today.?

The Navy said the discharged officer will be kept under quarantine for another 14 days.?

His family members are also undergoing quarantine at the quarantine center in the Boossa Naval Camp. (Colombo Gazette)

Suspect involved in several shooting incidents arrested in Borella

A key suspect wanted over several shooting incidents has been arrested in Borella, the Police said. Asitha Premathilake alias ?Solta? was arrested by the?Colombo Crimes Division (CCD). A weapon was also found in his possession. The Police said that the suspect was believed to have been involved in shooting incidents in Malabe and Athurugiriya. (Colombo Gazette)
