Sajith’s party decides not to attend meeting with PM

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya led by former Opposition leader Sajith Premadasa today formally announced its decision not to attend a meeting with Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Monday.

In a statement, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya said that at a time when President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has said he will not reconvene the old Parliament, there seems to be double standards on the issue with the Prime Minister seeking a meeting with the 225 members of the old Parliament.

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya said that its stand is that the President must reconvene the old Parliament at the Parliament Complex to discuss the crisis in the country.

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) has already said it will also not attend the meeting.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has convened a meeting with the members of the old Parliament on Monday morning.

The meeting has been convened to discuss the current situation in the country. (Colombo Gazette)
