More Navy personnel detected with virus

Nine more Navy personnel from the Navy Camp in Welisara have been infected with COVID-19 in Sri Lanka.

The Director General of Health Services Dr. Anil Jasinghe said the patients were among the 16 patients detected yesterday.

The remaining 5 have been identified as residents of Suduwella in Ja- Ela, who were undergoing quarantine.

A total of 665 confirmed COVID-19 patients have been reported in Sri Lanka as of this morning.

Dr, Jasinghe said 504 confirmed COVID-19 patients have been reported as active cases.

Meanwhile, 187 persons are admitted to various hospitals on suspicion of having contracted the virus.

A total of 154 patients including 153 Sri Lankans and a Chinese woman, have recovered so far and have been discharged from hospital.

Dr. Anil Jasinghe added 7 deaths due to COVID-19 have been reported so far in Sri Lanka. (Colombo Gazette)

A 26-year-old Sri Lankan national was arrested in India?for allegedly attempting to travel to Sri Lanka onboard a boat of a Tamil Nadu fisherman after entering the country illegally, the Press Trust of India reported. John hits out at the opposition

Minister of Public Order and Christian Affairs, John Amaratunga today slammed the opposition for saying they will go to Geneva to seek support against action being taken by the Government on some members of parliament.
