The Police said that no decision has been taken so far to extend the curfew till 31 May.
Senior Deputy Inspector General Ajith Rohana said that extending or relaxing the curfew depends on the advice of the health authorities.
It was announced yesterday that curfew passes issued for essential services, which were to expire today (30 April), have been extended till 31 May.
This resulted in speculation that the curfew would likely be extended till 31 May.
However, Ajith Rohana said that extending the curfew passes for essential services did not mean the curfew is going to be extended.
He said that while the health authorities will decide on the curfew, in the event it is extended then the existing passes issued for essential services will be valid till then.
The curfew is expected to be relaxed in Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara and Puttalam on 4th May. (Colombo Gazette)
