A group of 73 Sri Lankan students stranded in Bangladesh returned to Sri Lanka today.
They arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport on a special SriLankan Airlines flight.
Sri Lankan Airlines has been operating special flights to repatriate 443 Sri Lankans, mostly students, stranded overseas due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sri Lankan Airlines said the special flights are being operated as part of measures taken by the Ministry of Foreign Relations to bring back Sri Lankans stranded overseas.
The flights are being operated to and from Amritsar and Coimbatore in India, Karachi and Lahore in Pakistan, and Kathmandu in Nepal.
All those repatriated via the special flights authorized by the Government and the Civil Aviation Authority have been handed over to health officials and Tri- Forces personnel upon landing. (Colombo Gazette)
